The Dublin High School Varsity Girls Basketball and Soccer teams concluded their seasons this week after each appeared in the North Coast Section playoffs for the second consecutive year.
Dublin’s Girls Soccer team defeated University High School of San Francisco in the 1st round by a score of 3-0. In the Quarterfinals, the Gaels ran into a stiff Cardinal Newman defense and fell 0-2. This was the Gaels 3rd NCS appearance in the past four years, and the second year in a row which Dublin posted postseason victories after defeating Castro Valley in the opening round last year. Dublin finished the year with a mark of 8-6-4.
In Girls Basketball, Dublin was defeated by Northgate 65-58 in the opening round of NCS. It proved to be a difficult night for the Gaels from the foul line, as the Gaels were just 10-of-29 on its free throws in the 7-point loss. Despite the disappointment of dropping its playoff opener, it was still a very successful season as the 22 wins posted by Dublin were the most since 2018. This year was also the 20th time in the past 21 seasons in which Dublin has qualified for NCS, making it one of the most consistently successful athletic programs in school history.
Although each team loses seniors who have made strong contributions, both programs have had success this past season at the Junior Varsity level (and Frosh-Soph level for soccer) so the future looks promising.
