Beach Volleyball Program Launched, Baseball and Boys Volleyball On a Roll, Plus Much More!

History was made on Wednesday, March 5th as Dublin High School participated in its first ever Girls Beach Volleyball match at Fallon Sports Park. This is the first year for the program, joining a host of sports that have been launched in recent years which also includes Boys and Girls Water Polo, Girls Flag Football, as well as the club sport of Rugby (for both boys and girls). The East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) season begins on March 27th.

The spring athletic season is fully underway for all of its other sports, with every team in action this week.

Two teams off to blistering starts include Baseball and Boys Volleyball. The Varsity Baseball team is undefeated at 6-0 following a week in which it won home games against Kimball and Arroyo while also going on the road to defeat Livermore 4-2 in its EBAL opener. Meanwhile, the Boys Volleyball team improved to 10-1 overall after winning the San Lorenzo Tournament. Both teams are home on Tuesday, March 11th, as Baseball hosts Liberty at 4:00 while Boys Volleyball hosts California for its EBAL opener at 6:00.

Other teams that are home this week include Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Golf, Badminton, Swim, and Track and Field.

The Girls Lacrosse team hosts Miramonte on Tuesday, March 11th and the Boys Lacrosse team is at home against Alhambra at home on Wednesday, March 12th (7:00). Each team has been much more competitive in their early season games and are looking for their first home wins of the season. Golf has also been competitive in its early season matches and is slated to host Foothill at Dublin Ranch on March 11th. Two programs with season and home openers include Badminton on March 13th against Quarry Lane in the Auxiliary Gym and Swim against Livermore on Friday, March 14th (4:00). Track and Field has shown promising results in early season events and is looking forward to hosting an invitational against other EBAL schools on Saturday, March 15th starting at 9:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, Boys Tennis and Stunt open up their season on the road on March 11th with matches at Monte Vista (4:00) and Dougherty Valley (7:00) respectively. Coming off of an 18-0 win over Miramonte on Friday, the Softball team looks to make it two in a row as it travels to face Moreau Catholic on March 13th.

In other action, the winter athletic season officially wrapped up last week as the Boys Basketball lost to St. Ignatius 65-62 in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Tournament. Dublin came back from a late deficit to nearly force overtime but came up just short to finish the season with a record of 24-8 overall. Despite the loss, it was still a remarkable season for a team that defied expectations and earned its 8th consecutive CIF State bid (an ongoing school record for a team sport).
