Little League Day and 4 Senior Night Celebrations Highlight Busy Week for Dublin High Athletics

This will be a week of festivities and special events for Dublin High Athletics, as four programs honor its seniors playing in their last home events while another program celebrates the next generation of athletes.

The week started with the Boys Volleyball program recognizing its two seniors on Tuesday night before its match against Granada. Dublin battled valiantly and fought back from several deficits before ultimately falling 3-1. At 16-7 overall, the Gaels are still a lock for a North Coast Section berth and also are in contention for a top 8 seed in the Division 1 bracket which would guarantee it a home match. The Junior Varsity team also continued its stellar season with a sweep over the Matadors, as the team currently has a 12-1 overall record and is looing to avenge its only loss of the season when it takes on Livermore on Thursday.

Two programs will be celebrating Senior Days concurrently on Thursday, as both the Boys Tennis and Badminton team recognizes those who have been committed to their respective programs for the past four years. The Boys Tennis match against De La Salle starts at 4:00, while the Badminton match against San Ramon Valley takes place at 4:30 in the Auxiliary Gym.

The final program to honor its seniors is the Girls Lacrosse program, as they will be recognized in a ceremony which takes place prior to hosting Granada at 7:00. This has been a special year for the team as it continues to make history, including on Tuesday where its 15-2 win over Livermore was the 10th win of the season, eclipsing a school record for victories in a season that was set in 2008 when it went 9-9. At 10-4 overall and 5-0 in East Bay Athletic League play, the Gaels are closing in on its first ever winning season and league title.

In addition to Senior Night ceremonies, the Dublin High Baseball program will be recognizing the youth of the community as it celebrates “Little League Day” when it hosts Amador Valley on Friday at 4:00. All boys and girls are encouraged to wear their Little League uniforms, some of them will be taking the field with the Dublin players before the game, and the Athletic Boosters will be providing a special snack bar for the event. At 16-3 overall and 5-3 in EBAL, the Gaels are looking to earn a spot in the EBAL playoffs and improve its positioning for NCS seeding.

Other highlights for the week include Girls Beach Volleyball hosting Emerald on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 at Fallon Sports Park, along with the Northern California Frosh Soph Championships for Track and Field. The Girls Beach Volleyball team is 5-1 overall on the season following its 2-1 win over Amador Valley on Tuesday, while the Track and Field team continues to excel in preparation for the upcoming championship season.

Two other teams preparing for championship season are Swim and Boys Golf. The Swim team will be competing against Dougherty Valley in their final dual meet of the year on Thursday in the same pool that next weekends EBAL Championships are taking place. The Boys Golf team concluded its regular season this week, including a 10th place finish out of 21 teams in the Transbay Invitational at Rossmoor on Monday.

The Boys Lacrosse team is also in action for two more home games this week against Granada (Wednesday) and Foothill (Friday), while the Softball team will go on the road to face Monte Vista on Thursday.
