For the fourth consecutive season, the Dublin High Baseball team has once again qualified for a North Coast Section playoff berth. However, this will be the first time since 2012 that the Gaels will have the opportunity to host a postseason contest.
After finishing the regular season with a mark of 17-7 overall, the Gaels earned the #8 seed in the NCS Division 1 bracket and will be hosting #9 seed Casa Grande on Tuesday, May 20th at 5:00 p.m.
Casa Grande comes into Tuesday’s contest with a record of 18-7, and finished the regular season in 1st place in the Vine Valley League. However, the Gauchos lost their opening round playoff game to Justin Siena, which caused them to drop behind the Gaels in the Maxpreps rankings which largely determines NCS seeding under their newly adopted playoff format.
Dublin and Casa Grande have not played this season and have no common opponents either. Familiar opponents do await the Gaels in the NCS Quarterfinals if they defeat the Gauchos on Tuesday. With a victory, Dublin will advance to face East Bay Athletic League rivals Granada or San Ramon Valley on Friday, May 23rd. The Matadors are the top seed in Division 1 after winning EBAL and will host Dublin if they prevail on Tuesday. If San Ramon Valley wins, the Gaels will host the Wolves.
Tickets for Tuesday’s NCS 1st Round contest at Dublin High are $13.25 for adults and $6.50. Those planning to attend the game are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time to avoid lines at the gate. Access to the game will be from the far gate nearest to the Stadium as all other gates will be locked. The link to get tickets can be found here
