The Dublin High Varsity Football team’s convincing 37-14 victory over perennial powerhouse Liberty capped off a week which also saw victories by Girls Volleyball, Girls Tennis, and Girls Golf.
Quarterback Anthony Armendariz had his best game of the season both throwing and running for touchdowns to lead the Gaels to a 24-7 halftime advantage while Brandon Burns delivered the crushing blow after running the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown to give the Gaels an insurmountable 30-7 lead. The Gaels continued their bone-crushing defensive prowess, holding Liberty to single digits before giving up a late touchdown when the game was already out of reach. Dublin is now 4-1 overall at the midway point of the season as it prepares to face undefeated California at home on Friday, October 1st.
The Girls Volleyball team also had a very successful week, going on the road to defeat its rival Dougherty Valley in 4 sets before coming home to defeat Livermore in 3 sets. With the two victories, the Gaels improve to 6-5 overall to remain on path for an NCS berth. Dublin has a pivotal home match this week against California on Thursday, September 30th.
Dublin’s Girls Golf team improved to 8-6 after defeating California 22-247. For the 6th match in a row, the Gaels were led by senior Jessie Burch. In tennis, the Gaels went on the road to defeat Granada 8-1.
