Several student-athletes from Dublin High School recently advanced in East Bay Athletic League and North Coast Section Championship events in the sports of Badminton, Swim, and Golf.
Special recognition goes to Max Kory and Kaitlin Lee, each whom qualified for the CIF State Swim Meet on Saturday, May 13-14 at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex. Kory will be competing in the 50m Freestyle while Lee will be in the 500m Freestyle after their stellar performance in last weekend’s NCS Championships at the Concord Community Pool.
In addition to Kory and Lee, the following swimmers advanced to the NCS Finals in their respective events:
Boys – 200 Medley Relay – Ben Ohrr, Joey Huang, Max Cory, Jino Andres Nicolas
Boys – 200 Free Relay – Ben Ohrr, Joey Huang, Max Cory, Jino Andres Nicolas
Girls – 400 Free Relay – Hannah Nguyen, Piper Stickler, Paige Nothelfer, Kaitlin Lee
Kaitlin Lee – 200 Free & 500 Free
Max Cory – 50 Free & 100 Free
Joey Huang – 100 Breast
Another student-athlete with a great performance in NCS was Alexander Suen. Suen and Aditya Das made NCS as individual qualifiers to the Division 2 Golf Tournament. Das unfortunately had to pull out due to an injury, but Suen finished in 9th place overall in the tournament held on May 9th at Valley of the Moon in Santa Rosa, which means he has now qualified to move up into the Division 1 tournament on May 16th at Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch.
Another team with some great performances this week was the Badminton team. The Gaels finished 2nd place overall in the EBAL Tournament held at San Ramon Valley this past Saturday behind only Dougherty Valley. The following players finished in the Top 5 and qualified for the NCS Tournament on Saturday, May 14th at Newark Memorial High School:
