The Dublin High School Track and Field program achieved more record-setting milestones at Freedom High School on May 14th in the North Coast Section (NCS) Tri-Valley Meet, which brought together the top performers from the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL), Bay Valley Athletic League (BVAL), and Diablo Athletic League (DAL).
Following up on its EBAL Championship, the Boys Team claimed their 1st NCS Tri-Valley Meet Championship in school history. The Girls also made history with their 3rd consecutive podium finish after coming in 2nd place in 2019 and 1st place in 2018 (meet canceled due to COVID in 2020 and 2021). By the conclusion of the NCS Tri-Valley Meet, Dublin had qualified 38 student-athletes into the NCS Meet of Champions, which it will be hosting at Gaels Stadium on May 20-21. This beats the record set in 2018 when Dublin sent 31 athletes to the prestigious event.

Kasam was the individual champion in the 300 meter hurdles (40.07), teamed with Manogya Yara, Brandon Burns, and Alexander Franco to win the 4x400m relay (3:26.11), and had second place finishes in the 110m high hurdles (in a personal best time of 14.38) and 4x100m relay. In total, Kasam qualified in 4 separate events at the NCS Meet of Champions, a feat matched only by Burns. Franco also won 1st place in the Boys 400m with a time of 50.21. Adam Moore was Dublin’s other student-athlete on the Boys team who finished in 1st place in two separate events, teaming with Tristan Oliver to win the Boys 100 Unified (23.83) and then partnering with Ethan Perez to win the Boys Long Jump Unified (34’6.25).
It was also a great day for the Muhammad family, as Jathiyah Muhammed won the Girls’ Pole Vault at 13’0 while her younger brother Khaliq Muhammad took 1st place in the Boys’ Pole Vault at 15’0. Other 1st place finishers for Dublin included Aiza Sarwar in the Girls Triple Jump (36’6.75) and Rachel Okwudiafor Johnson and Nyla Williams in the Girls 100 Unified (26.91). Okwudiafor-Johnson and Leila Champion led the Girls team by qualifying for 3 events each at the Meet of Champions.

In other highlights from this past weekend, Max Cory (SR) and Kaitlin Lee (SO) both qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Championship Swim Meet in Fresno. Forty of the fastest swimmers in each event were invited to showcase their speed and compete against the best swimmers in the state. Cory swam an incredibly fast 50 at 21.10, while Lee swam a 4:56.97 during prelims which qualified her for the Console’s heat during finals on Saturday. Lee did an amazing job in her final race and to win the Console’s heat
Recognition also goes to Caitlin Kraft, Nicole Ham, Kevin Sun, and Sophia Leng for their success at the NCS Badminton Championships on Saturday at Newark Memorial High School, helping to lead the Gaels to a 5th place finish out of 26 schools that qualified for the postseason. Sophomore Alexander Suen also wrapped up a very successful season by shooting a 73 at the NCS Division 1 Golf Tournament in Antioch, finishing just one stroke off from qualifying to the CIF NorCal Tournament.
