It has been a good start to the week for Dublin High Athletics as multiple teams posted victories. The Dublin High School Varsity Girls Basketball team won their third game in a row, the Boys Soccer team remained unbeaten, and Girls Soccer won their second consecutive match in home contests earlier this week.
In Tuesday’s action, the Girls Basketball team improved its record to 5-2 overall by defeating a Hayward squad that came into the game with a record of 4-0 by a score of 63-14. Similarly, the Girls Soccer team jumped out early and never looked back in its 4-0 win over Pittsburg.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team will be home again on Friday, December 16th against American (7:00), while the Varsity Girls Basketball team will be playing at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17th against James Logan in the Galloway Invitational at Moreau Catholic in a early-season contest with potential playoff implications in the North Coast Section Division 1 bracket.
Meanwhile, the Varsity Boys Soccer team remained unbeaten after posting a dramatic 2-1 victory over James Logan at home on Monday night to improve their record to 3-0-2 on the season. After giving up a goal in the opening minutes of the match, the Gaels defense stiffened and the offense got going to post the come-from-behind victory that included scoring the winning goals in the final minutes.
Looking ahead, there are two changes to the schedule for the Boys Soccer program. First, the previously scheduled home matches against Irvington scheduled for today (Thursday, December 15th) has been cancelled and will not be made up. Second, the Junior Varsity and Varsity Doubleheader scheduled to take place at Pittsburg High on December 30th has been moved up to Thursday, December 29th. Match times will remain the same with Junior Varsity kicking off at 12:00 and Varsity kicking off at 2:00.
Coming off a very successful weekend in which 6 wrestlers finished in 1st place and 15 wrestlers finished in the top 5 of their weight classes, the wrestling program has another busy weekend planned competing in four separate tournaments across Northern California.
