The Dublin High School Baseball games scheduled for today (Saturday, February 25th) against Mountain House have been postponed due to poor field conditions caused from the recent storms.
The Varsity Baseball game will now be played at home on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. Since this is the the new regular season finale for the Gaels, the make-up game against Mountain House will now become “Senior Day” instead of the game against Livermore on April 26th as previously planned.
Since the Freshman Baseball team already has a scheduled Doubleheader on May 6th against the Cowboys, the Junior Varsity game will now be played on the road against Mountain House on the same day and time as the Varsity at 11:00 a.m. The Freshman Baseball game at Mountain House has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 27th at 4:00.
The Gaels’ Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball teams will be back in action this Thursday, March 2nd at home against San Leandro at 3:30, while the Freshmen team’s next contests will be a Doubleheader at Acalanes next Saturday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m.
In other highlights this week, Senior Wrestler Henry Baalman won 2 matches at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Wrestling Tournament before bowing out. Navjot Waraich and Lana Nguyen became the first female wrestlers in school history to compete in the CIF State Meet, helping to highlight a Girls Wrestling season which saw the team finish 7th out of 101 North Coast Section schools, the best in its history.
The final remaining Winter Sport at Dublin High School that is still competing is the Varsity Boys Basketball team. After dropping an 82-79 decision to San Ramon Valley in an NCS Open Division Consolation game, the Gaels await the decision from the CIF Seeding committee on where they will be placed in the bracket of the State Tournament that begins on February 28th. The official announcement is expected some time on Sunday evening.
As Winter Sports wind down, Spring Sports continue getting underway. The Track team won all four Divisions in its Dual Meet against Livermore on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Varsity Softball team won its season opener against Bishop O’Dowd 10-0, while the Varsity Boys Golf team played well but ultimately fell to Campolindo 185-175 at Dublin Ranch. Despite being “Spring” sports, all three events were played in cold and wet conditions that more closely resembled Winter than Spring.
Four additional Spring Sports will have their first home contests this week starting with Girls Lacrosse on February 28th against Livermore and Boys Lacrosse on Wednesday, March 1st against College Park. Both Lacrosse games start at 7:00. The Badminton team will have its home opener on Thursday, March 2nd in the Auxiliary Gym against Amador Valley at 4:00, while the Swim Team hosts Pittsburg in its opening meet at The Wave on Friday, March 3rd (4:00).
