In what proved to be the most successful day of the current spring season, Dublin posted victories in three different Varsity sports.
The Varsity Boys Volleyball team went on the road to win its season opener at Amador Valley in four sets. It was a big victory for the Gaels against one of the North Coast Section’s perennial powers. Dublin proceeded to push another traditional power (Foothill) to 5 sets before losing 3-2. The Gaels next match is at Granada on March 14th before facing Livermore in its EBAL home opener on Thursday, March 16th (5:00/6:00).
Dublin’s Girls Lacrosse team also posted a big road win, beating Foothill in what was officially a nonleague contest by a score of 14-4 before falling to Marin Catholic on Thursday. The Boys team also battled EBAL teams this week in nonleague game, losing to California on Tuesday and then dropping a narrow 9-8 decision at Dougherty Valley on Friday. The Girls next game will be at home on Tuesday, March 14th against Northgate (5:30), and then there will be a Girls/Boys Lacrosse Doubleheader on Thursday, March 16th with the Girls hosting Oakland Tech at 5:30 and the Boys hosting Northgate at 7:00.
The Gaels’ Badminton team improved its record to 2-1 on the season after losing to Amador Valley 11-6 before bouncing back to defeat California 13-4. Dublin’s next game will be on the road against Dougherty Valley on Tuesday, March 14th. In other action this week, the Swim Team defeated Pittsburg on Friday and will next travel to face Granada on March 17th before returning to The Wave for a home meet against Foothill on Friday, March 24th.
The Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball games between Dublin and Newark Memorial scheduled for Wednesday, March 8th) have been POSTPONED, along with Wednesday’s Freshman Baseball game between Dublin and Castro Valley. Events scheduled for Thursday, March 9th that have been POSTPONED include Boys Golf and Tennis against Livermore and JV Softball against Northgate. Friday and Saturday’s baseball games at West (Tracy) and Kennedy (Fremont) have also been POSTPONED.
Make-up dates for the baseball games against Newark Memorial have been set for Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. The Varsity game at home will not be “Senior Day” while the JV game will be on the road. The Baseball team’s away games at West will now become home games for both JV and Varsity on Tuesday, March 21st at 4:00. The make-up date for the Boys Golf Match will be on April 13th, and all other events are still TBD. One other scheduling change to note is that the Frosh team’s scheduled home game against San Ramon Valley is now an away game on the Wolves’ turf field with first pitch pushed back to 11:30 a.m. (previously was at 11:00)
Looking ahead to action over the weekend, the Track and Field team rounds out this week’s home events by hosting a Center Meet against other East Bay Athletic League schools on Saturday, March 11th starting at 10:00 a.m.
Considering that rain is in the forecast for virtually the entire month of March, it is anticipated that there will be several adjustments to the schedule in the coming weeks, so fans are encouraged to check back regularly for updates.
