It was another great week for both the Varsity Boys Volleyball team and the Varsity Baseball team, as the two squads combined to go 7-0.
The Boys Volleyball team not only won all of its matches at the Folsom Tournament on Saturday, but it did not drop a single set after improving to 9-2 overall and 4-2 in the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL). This was on the heels of a successful week in which the Gaels swept De La Salle last Tuesday and knocked off last season’s North Coast Section finalists Amador Valley 3-1 on Thursday. Dublin is back at home on Tuesday, March 28th against California at 6:00 and will close the week at Livermore on Thursday, March 30th.
After blanking West High of Tracy 10-0 last Thursday, the Baseball team celebrated another walk-off victory, this time against California 3-2 the following day. The victory helps avenge a loss to the Grizzlies in last season’s EBAL playoffs, as the Gaels improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in EBAL. Dublin is now ranked 7th according to the Bay Area News Group, and weather permitting will have a home-and-home series with Granada starting on the road this Wednesday, March 29th before returning home to face the Matadors on Friday, March 31st.
The Boys Tennis team improved to 4-1 overall after a dramatic 5-4 victory at De La Salle on Monday, March 27th. Aayush Sharma won 11-9 in the 3rd set tiebreaker at #6 Singles to provide the margin of victory. Following a postponement of their match on March 28th at California, the Gaels will be back on the court on Thursday, March 30th at San Ramon Valley (4:00). The two teams played last week in a match with the Gaels defeating the Wolves 5-4 on a match that came down to a 3rd set tiebreaker at #3 Doubles which saw Dublin prevail 10-6.
In other highlights last week, the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team defeated Foothill 15-11 while the Badminton team went on the road to defeat San Ramon Valley 16-1.
