Dublin Spring Sports Finishing on High Note

Several Dublin High athletic programs have concluded their season in the past week while others are wrapping up their regular season tis week. All of them are ending on a successful note to carry some momentum either into this year’s postseason or into the 2023-2024 season.

The first spring sport to wrap up this year was the Stunt Cheer squad. This was a developmental year with so many new participants and a new coaching staff, but they ended on a high note after being able to complete the hardest routine of the year in their season finale.

The Boys’ Tennis team was the next team to conclude after finishing EBAL play with a 7-6 league record and 4th place finish. Since the team finished in the top half of the league standings, they have been elevated to the more competitive Mountain Division for the 2023-24 season. In addition, sophomore Sahith Sudini made a name for himself at the EBAL Singles Tournament after nearly upsetting the top seed.

Two other teams that finished with victories late last week on Senior Night to conclude their season were the Boys and Girls Lacrosse teams. Dublin defeated Oakland Tech in Girls Lacrosse 19-5 to finish the season with more wins than in 2022, while the Boys Lacrosse team won their Senior Night matchup against Dougherty Valley 14-8. Similar to Stunt Cheer, both Lacrosse teams had a lot of players who were new to the sport and are looking forward to an offseason to develop and build off of their late-season success.

The Track and Field team also had a very successful Senior Night in a Tri-Meet with De La Salle, Carondelet, and Granada, as 22 athletes set Personal Records as they gear up for this Friday’s East Bay Athletic League Championships at San Ramon Valley High School (3:00). On the Girls side, Monte Vista is favored but Dublin is expected to be competitive. On the Boys side it is more wide open and the Gaels have a legitimate chance to win another EBAL title with a strong performance.

The Baseball team is one of the two squads that will be celebrating a Senior Day on Saturday, May 6th when they host Newark Memorial at 11:00 a.m. in a make-up that was rained out earlier in the year. Dublin ended up winning two out of three games last week, including a split with Livermore and a 2-0 win on Saturday against a strong Mountain House squad that came into the game with a mark of 17-7 overall. With the victory, Dublin is now 15-7 overall and still has a chance at an EBAL playoff spot with a win at Dougherty Valley on Wednesday, May 3rd combined with a two-game series sweep by Foothill over Amador Valley this week.

The Dublin High Hockey team is the final team that will be having a Senior Day recognition on Saturday at 4:00 at Dublin Iceland. The Gaels celebrated an 8-6 victory over California last Saturday, and still has a chance to make the playoffs with a win in their finale against the East Bay Spartans.

Another team which celebrated success last week was the Softball team, as the Gaels went on the road to defeat Foothill 5-3. After starting the season with a 2-11 record, Dublin has gone 5-4 in its past nine games including a season sweep of the Falcons which potentially eliminated them from postseason contention. Following a game at Dougherty Valley on Thursday, Dublin concludes its season with a rescheduled game at Livermore on Friday, May 5th.

The Boys Golf team will also be wrapping up its season on Monday when it participates in the EBAL Tournament but there is a chance that individual players may qualify for the NCS Tournament based upon how well they fare.
