Dublin High School’s Football team wasted no time getting on the board, as Garrett Esomonu returned the season-opening kickoff for a touchdown, and the Gaels never looked back en route to a 40-0 victory at home against Washington High School of Fremont. The Gaels were dominant in all facets of the game, moving the ball on offense with ease, allowing very few first downs on defense, and making big plays throughout the night on special teams.
Dublin jumped out to a 19-0 advantage after the 1st quarter and were up 40-0 at intermission before the game went to a running clock for the entire second half. Similarly, the Junior Varsity team also posted a shutout, defeating Washington 32-0.
It will be a tougher test for Dublin this upcoming Friday, as the Gaels are slated to host Ukiah. The Wildcats are also coming off a strong performance in a 41-7 win over Montgomery High School of Santa Rosa. Ukiah is poised to become a North Bay power in football, as the program is now under the leadership of Paul Cronin, the longtime coach with years of success at the helm of Cardinal Newman.
The Junior Varsity game starts at 4:30 while the Varsity game kicks off at 7:00. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Students with ASB stickers will get in for free along with those who have purchased a Digital Sports Pass from the Dublin High Athletic Boosters. Digital Sports Passes will allow for admission to all home events and can be purchased here.
Although there will be QR codes at the entrance gate, fans without ASB stickers or Digital Sports passes are encouraged to buy tickets in advance to avoid long lines at the gate. The GoFan ticket link to purchase tickets can be found here.
For those unable to attend in person, they can watch the live-stream on the Dublin High Athletic Department’s YouTube Channel “Dublin Gaels Live“. All regular season athletic events taking place in the Stadium and Sports Complex throughout the year will be live-streamed on “Dublin Gaels Live” with limited exceptions for those where alternative broadcasting options have been arranged such as TV30.
The Dublin High Freshmen team will also be at home, as they take on Clayton Valley TONIGHT at 6:00. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here and will be live-streamed on “Dublin Gaels Live”.
