The Dublin High School Wrestling team just sent it’s highest number of wrestlers to the CIF State Meet, as 5 qualified to participate in the prestigious event which is taking place February 22-24 at the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.
Lana Nguyen highlights the distinguished group by winning the event for her weight class at the North Coast Section tournament. Yousif Amin came in 2nd place in his event at NCS, while Navjot Waraich and Lavenda Hafoka both finished in 4th place in their respective NCS events to qualify for the State Meet. Dublin’s Girls team finished in 6th place in the entire North Coast Section, which is also a high mark for the program in its history.
In other highlights from this weekend, the Girls Soccer team fell to San Ramon Valley 4-0 to conclude their season 6-6-5.. The Gaels were tied at 0-0 until the final minute of the first half when they gave up a goal, and then succumbed to the 4th-seeded Wolves offensive onslaught in the second half. Despite the loss, it was the first time since 2016 that the Gaels advanced to the NCS Quarterfinals after pulling off the upset as the 12th seed defeating 5th seeded Castro Valley in the 1st Round.
Looking ahead to TONIGHT, the Boys Basketball team will be hosting Liberty at 7:00 with a berth to the NCS Championship game and the CIF State Tournament on the line.
