The Dublin High School Girls Flag Football team will be having its home opener on Tuesday, September 3rd as it prepares to host Alameda. This year the program has added a Junior Varsity team, and they will be taking the field at 6:00 followed by the Varsity team at 7:15.
Despite the loss in their opener last Thursday at Freedom High School, the team will have plenty of chances this week to bounce back as not only will they be hosting Alameda on Tuesday, but they will also be traveling to face College Park (Wednesday), Castro Valley (Friday), and will be in a tournament on Saturday with multiple games scheduled.
Tuesday will also see the home opener (and season opener) for the Varsity Girls Golf team. Coming off of an appearance in last season’s North Coast Section Division 1 tournament, the Gaels open up their season on their home Dublin Ranch course against Granada (3:30). The Junior Varsity team’s first match of the season will be at Ruby Hill against Amador Valley on Thursday, September 5th.
In other home action this week, the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams will be hosting Washington on Thursday, September 5th (5:30/6:30). The Gaels will also be in action on Wednesday at Newark Memorial and will be competing in the East County Tournament on Saturday, September 7th.
The Dublin High Junior Varsity and Varsity teams will also be back in action on Friday, September 6th as they embark on their longest road trip of the season to Ukiah High School. Both teams lost nail-biters in their season opener at Berkeley, as the Yellow Jackets scored a touchdown with just seconds remaining in the game to defeat the Gaels 16-13, while the Varsity prevailed 14-10 despite a valiant effort by the Gaels defense.
The Boys and Girls Water Polo teams will be opening up East Bay Athletic League competition this week at California on Thursday, September 5th, while Cross Country and Girls Tennis will be off.
