Dublin High School’s Varsity Boys and Girls teams remained unbeaten after sweeping Granada this week.  The Boys team improved its mark to 6-0 after a hard-fought 5-set victory over the Matadors on May 13th. The Girls team won its first three matches in straight sets, before dispatching the Matadors in four sets in their win on Thursday. Each squad will be celebrating their respective Senior Nights next week against Amador Valley, with the Boys taking on the Dons on Tuesday, May 18th while the Girls Senior Night is on Thursday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. Both matches are being live-streamed on GaelsTV.

Two other Varsity teams with unblemished records to start the season are the Boys Soccer team and Girls Basketball team.  The Gaels’ Soccer team defeated Livermore 2-1 on May 12th behind goals from Caede McMahon and Yazeed Samaenah to improve to 2-0-1 on the season. Dublin’s Girls Varsity Basketball team will take its undefeated 4-0 road on the road to face defending North Coast Section champion San Ramon Valley on May 14th at 7:00 p.m. in a game being live-streamed on the NFHS Network.

Other highlights from the past week included the Girls’ Varsity soccer team notching its first victory of the season on the road against Livermore. Jaeden Nelson and McKenna Masinter each scored to help lead the Gaels. The team will be celebrating its Senior Night this upcoming Wednesday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m. in our Stadium against Foothill. The Badminton team also won its first contest this year by knocking off San Ramon Valley 16-1.

The Varsity Boys Basketball team continued its gauntlet of a schedule against some of the Bay Area’s top teams, as they posted an impressive 76-39 victory over a Bellarmine team that was ranked in the Bay Area’s top 10 at the time of the contest. Dublin followed that by getting past Dougherty Valley the following evening 70-68. Donovan Cooks scored 24 points to lead the way, while Caleb Oden and TJ Meagher contributed 14 points apiece. Meagher also had 29 points in a losing effort to the Bay Area’s 3rd ranked team (79-87 to Archbishop Mitty on May 13th).

Looking ahead to this weekend’s home events, the Varsity Baseball team will be taking on Foothill at 4:00 and the Varsity Boys Basketball team will be hosting another powerhouse (De La Salle) at 7:00 on Friday, May 14th. Two teams will also be having their Senior Days on Saturday, May 15th, with Boys Varsity Lacrosse hosting College Park at 2:00 and the Stunt Cheer squad is hosting Amador Valley at 4:15. All events in the Stadium and Sports Complex can be viewed on GaelsTV, and all other outdoor events are open to the public provided that fans are masked and socially distanced.
