The first Senior Night of the 2021-2022 season was celebrated by the Dublin High School Varsity Girls Golf team on Thursday, September 30th, as three seniors were honored for competing in their final match at the Gaels’ home course (San Ramon Golf Club). Jessie Burch, Annie Zhou, and Anika Sharma were honored at the conclusion of Dublin’s 228-287 victory over San Ramon Valley. Burch led the Gaels once again by shooting a 40. Dublin is now 9-7 overall this season heading into their season’s final matches against Granada and Amador Valley.
Two other teams in action on Thursday night that maintained their winning records were the Varsity Girls Tennis team and the Varsity Girls Golf team. In tennis, Dublin went on the road to defeat Dougherty Valley 6-3 powered by wins from their top five singles players Jessica Holbea, Niyati Ravi, Nirupama Suravarjjala, Soha Ahmad, and Alyssa Ma. Jahnvi Reddy and Ekaterina Lokteva were victorious in doubles. The Gaels finish the first half of the season with a winning record at 5-4 overall.
Dublin had a great night in Girls Volleyball, avenging an earlier 1-3 loss at California by defeating the Grizzlies at home in straight sets 25-11, 25-21, and 25-23. Lauren Dang set the tone early with six straight service winners to give the Gaels a 6-0 and they never looked back. Rachel Grier contributed to the majority of Dublin’s points in the second set, and Alena Dinh came up from JV and in her first Varsity match helped hold off a late rally by California in the 3rd set with a kill to end the match. Pallak Thapar was outstanding defensively throughout the match to help improve the Gaels’ record to 7-6 on the season. Dublin will be on the road next week for matches at Carondelet and San Ramon Valley before returning home to face Amador Valley on Thursday, October 12th.
