The Dublin High School Varsity Football Team battled back from an early 14-0 deficit to take a 35-28 lead into the 4th quarter before giving up a touchdown in the final minute to lost 36-35 decision at Foothill on March 27th . The exciting back-and-forth contest featured big plays and costly mistakes by both teams. The Falcons benefitted from five drive-sustaining penalties called by the officials against Dublin in the second half following defensive stops by the Gaels on third down, which ultimately proved to be too much for Dublin to overcome.

Dublin will head back into action on Saturday, April 3rd against Livermore in its home finale in a game that will include slightly expanded attendance, the Marching Band and Color Guard, and Senior Night festivities. All of the action will be aired on GaelsTV with the JV contest at 4:00 and the Varsity contest at 7:00. The live-stream will also be available at Coach’s Grille on Regional Street.

In other athletic highlights for the week, the Girls’ Varsity Golf team won its 6th consecutive match by defeating Foothill 206-228 at the San Ramon Golf Course. Annie Zhou and Kim Burch led Dublin with low scores of 38. The Gaels will look to make it seven wins in a row when they take on Livermore at their alternative home course at Dublin Ranch. The Varsity Boys Golf team has been off since March 23rd, while the JV Boys had a stirring comeback on the final hole in a modified match play format to force a 27-27 draw.

On the diamond, the Varsity Baseball team overcame an early 3-0 deficit to win in dramatic walk-off fashion, beating San Ramon Valley 4-3 in their final at-bat in a contest they hosted on March 24th. Dublin will take its undefeated mark into a home-and-home series against Monte Vista on March 31st and April 2nd. The Varsity Softball team kicked off its season this week in a game where the bats were flying for both Dublin and their opponent California, but the Gaels ended up coming a bit short as they dropped a 7-6 decision.
