The Dublin High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams ended their historic seasons in dramatic fashion in the Nike Cross Regionals (NXR) at Woodward Park in Fresno on December 4th. Daniel Trampe finished 4th overall with one of his best performances ever, finishing with a time of 15:23. The Girls team on their Division while the Boys team finished 2nd among all teams participating.

Dublin’s performances at NXR were just the final noteworthy performance in a season laden with accomplishments. The Boys team won their 5th consecutive North Coast Section and East Bay Athletic League Championships. Dublin became the first NCS Division I team to accomplish that feat, and were the first team in NCS history to claim the top 5 individual spots. The Girls Cross Country team also made history by becoming the first team in DHS history to qualify for the CIF State meet.

Another team at DHS with historic distinction among fall sports was the Girls Volleyball team. This year’s squad become the first team in the program’s history to participate in a CIF State event. The Gaels pulled off a shocking upset over top-seeded Foothill to qualify for the event, and then took Amador Valley in the NCS Semi-finals to 5 sets before falling 15-13. The Dons would go on to make the CIF NorCal Division I Semi-Finals, while another opponent which Dublin defeated during the regular season (Carondelet) advanced to the CIF State Championship.

Dublin’s other fall sports teams had a lot of success this season as well. The football team advanced to the NCS playoffs for the first time in four years with a record of 6-4 overall against a highly competitive schedule. Despite ultimately falling in a close contest on the road against the eventual Division II champions (Campolindo), it was definitely one of the highlights of the fall to celebrate the team’s success while once again packing Gaels Stadium for Friday night lights.

The Girls Golf and Tennis teams added to the fall’s success with accomplishments of their own. Dublin’s golf team finished 5th in the North Coast Section Division I, while the tennis team went 11-7 in Northern California’s premier tennis league (EBAL) to once again have a qualifying record for NCS.
