Water Polo Celebrates Inaugural Senior Day; Girls Golf Wins Lone Tree Invitational, and Much More

The Dublin High School Boys’ and Girls’ Water Polo teams welcomed students, friends, and families at its first ever annual Senior Night against San Ramon Valley on Thursday, October 6th at the Wave Aquatics Complex in Emerald Glen Park.

Tribute was paid to the three seniors on the Girls Team (Darshini Bhasker, Dhriti Khamat, Elaina Robinson) and one senior on the Boys Team (Leland Leung) for their dedication and energy that they have brought to our first year of Dublin High water polo.  Their inspiration, dedication, and integrity have provided examples to their teammates who will follow in them years to come.

In a particularly inspired effort in their final home game of the season, the Girls nearly pulled off an historic upset. The Gaels played the Wolves fairly evenly through the first half and went into the break trailing 7-4. Dublin scored the only two goals of the 3rd quarter to trim their deficit to just one goal (7-6) heading into the final quarter before ultimately falling 10-6. The Girls have two road contests to finish the season while the boys have three games on the road to complete their year.

Dublin nearly pulled off a big upset in Girls Volleyball as well. After losing to Foothill fairly quickly in three sets on the road earlier this season, the Gaels mounted a much stronger effort at home before ultimately falling to the Falcons in five sets. The Gaels did defeat Livermore earlier in the week in straight sets, and the team’s record heading into the final two weeks of the season is 11-4 overall and 5-4 in the East Bay Athletic League. Dublin’s Freshmen Girls Team remained undefeated while the Junior Varsity team improved to 14-1 overall after both teams defeated the Cowboys and Falcons to cap another successful week.

The other big highlight for this week came in Girls Golf, as Dublin won the Lone Tree Invitational in Antioch on Monday. October 3rd. Natalie Park, Iris Kim, Callie McLoughlin, Jayden Simoneau, and Sofia Shiao all had excellent rounds to lead the Gaels to victory. Park also led the way in Thursday’s 198-217 home victory over San Ramon Valley at Dublin Ranch with a team-low round of 34.

In Girls Tennis, Dublin had an even record this week after defeating Livermore on the road 9-0 on Tuesday before losing to Monte Vista at home on Thursday.
