Athletics Recap and Look-Ahead

Dublin High School Athletics enjoyed another successful week with several teams continuing their winning ways. There will be a full slate of action to look forward to in the coming week (March 14-19).

The highlight of the week is the Dublin Distance Fiesta, hosted by our Track and Field program. This 2-day event is believed to be one of the largest track meets in the country, featuring 4,300 athletes will take place on Friday, March 18th (6:00-9:00 p.m.) and Saturday, March 19th (8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.). Dublin’s Boys and Girls teams have enjoyed a lot of success thus far this season including in the Center Meet held in Gaels Stadium on March 12th, and is looking forward to more breakout performances

Another team deserving of particular recognition after their strongest start in nearly a decade is the Softball team. The Gaels went on the road to defeat San Leandro 5-1 to remain unbeaten. They are off this week before beginning East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) action next week.

The Boys Volleyball team remained unbeaten in EBAL play, improving its record to 4-0 after a 3-1 victory over De La Salle on March 10th. Dublin will be home this week against San Ramon Valley on Tuesday, March 15th (6:00) before traveling to face Amador Valley on March 17th. The other team with a home game on the Dublin High campus this week is Boys Lacrosse on Thursday, March 17th at 7:00. Boys Lacrosse defeated Dougherty Valley 5-3 on March 11th to pull back to .500 overall at 2-2.

Teams with off-campus home events this week include Boys Golf at the San Ramon Golf Course (March 14th vs. Dougherty Valley and March 17th vs. Cal at 3:00) along with the Swim Team at The Wave (March 18th at 4:00). The Golf team defeated Livermore 224-256 on March 10th using a lineup comprised entirely of seniors, as Adrian Yoo led the way by shooting a 41. Dublin’s Swim team was off last week and takes an undefeated record into its matchup with Granada on Friday. Meanwhile, the Dublin High Hockey team will be having its season debut on Saturday, March 19th at 9:15 p.m. against De La Salle at Dublin Iceland.

In addition to hockey, two other teams will be having their season debuts this week. The Badminton team will have its opener at Quarry Lane on Thursday, March 17th (4:00), while the Stunt Cheer squad will square off against Carondelet at Monte Vista on Friday, March 18th (8:00).

Several DHS teams will be going on the road this week. Coming off of a victory over Mission San Jose to improve to 4-2-1 on the season, the Baseball team will be going on the road to face San Ramon Valley (March 16th) and Mountain House (March 19th). Boys Tennis will travel to play Amador Valley (March 15th) and Granada (March 17th) following an impressive 9-0 win over De La Salle last Thursday to even its league record to 2-2.
