3 Senior Nights, Sunday games, State Championships, and Other Upcoming Noteworthy Events

It promises to be an exciting 4-day period for Dublin High School Athletics with Senior Nights, State Championship events, and several games with postseason implications.

The action kicks off on Thursday, February 3rd with the celebration of 3 separate Senior Nights. The first group of seniors to be honored are from the Varsity Boys Soccer team, as they will be recognized at 5:30 p.m. in Gaels Stadium before the start of their final regular season home match against San Ramon Valley. An hour later at approximately 6:30 p.m. the seniors on the Varsity Girls Basketball team will be honored in the Sports Complex before their matchup against Dougherty Valley. This will be followed by a celebration of the seniors on the Dance team at halftime of the Girls Basketball game. All of the action for both events can be viewed via live-stream on GaelsTV.

In addition to it being Senior Night, both the Boys Soccer and Girls Basketball games have postseason implications. The Boys Soccer team still has an outside chance at an EBAL title with a record of 6-1-3 in EBAL action, but faces a stiff challenge against the Wolves. Meanwhile, the Girls Basketball team is looking to improve on its 10-9 overall record to earn a higher seed in next week’s league tournament along with finishing the season with a winning record for the 19th consecutive season (an ongoing school record). The Varsity Girls Soccer team is also looking to close its 6-match road trip and 4-match unbeaten streak with a victory on the road at perennial powerhouse San Ramon Valley.

On Friday, the Varsity Boys Basketball concludes its regular season with a game at Monte Vista with an opportunity to clinch the top seed in next week’s EBAL Tournament. Although tickets will not be sold to the general public, there will be regular and ongoing highlights throughout the night posted on the ScoreVision FanApp and on Twitter (@GaelsDublin).

The weekend will be highlighted by the Traditional Competition Cheer team and Hip Hop team heading down to Bakersfield to compete in the JAMZ California Championships on Saturday, February 5th.  Following the cancellation of these events in 2021, both squads are excited about the opportunity to compete for a state title.

The action-packed weekend concludes with a rare Sunday matinee affair, as the Freshmen and Junior Varsity Boys Basketball teams will be concluding their seasons at home against De La Salle. This is a make-up from games scheduled to take place on January 19th that were postponed due to COVID. The Frosh game tips off at 12:00 while the JV game starts at 1:30. Tickets are available on GoFan and the action can be viewed on GaelsTV.
