Believe, No Regrets….Together

For the DHS Boys Soccer program, 2019-2020 was a season of ups and downs.

During a discussion at an early season team meeting, the Varsity players discussed the importance of team chemistry to their championship aspirations.  They came up with what became a theme for the season, “Believe, No Regrets.”

While the team started off on a bit of a hot streak, their chemistry and commitment were tested almost immediately with a string of injuries.  But on a team with 17 Seniors, there was a lot of experience with tough stretches in a season to draw upon and the leadership from the Seniors helped guide the team through.  Along the way they came up with an addition to the theme, “Together.”

Getting healthy, coming together, and adding a spark from 5 callups from JV, the boys were able to end the regular season with a 5 game winning streak, including defending the Stone Leaf Trophy with a victory over Dougherty Valley, and earn another NCS berth.

Along the way JV and Frosh showed the promise and excitement of the future with strong seasons of their own.  And JV put an exclamation point on the year with a 1-0 defeat of De La Salle.

While the season ended after a first round loss in NCS, it truly was a journey where the players learned that to accomplish anything, and to have no regrets, they need to do it together and to believe.

Thank you to all of our players and their families.  We would especially like to thank our Seniors for their commitment and dedication and for the continued legacy of paying it forward for the players to come after them.  Thank you Class of 2020:
