Due to the rising threat of COVID caused by the omicron variant, the California Department of Public Health has instituted new limitations and requirements for all indoor “mega” events. This update impacts all remaining Home Boys Basketball games for the remainder of the season, including tonight’s games against Amador Valley.

Here are the new guidelines:

  • Verification of fully vaccinated status*
  • If not vaccinated, a pre-entry negative test** result is required of all attendees. Results of rapid antigen tests must be done 24 hours before the event and 48 hours if they are PCR tests.
  • Self-attestation as a mode of verification is not allowed.
  • Identification of all attendees age 18 and over to validate their vaccination record or proof of negative test.
  • Acceptable identification is any document that includes the name of the person and photograph.
  • Attendees must follow CDPH Guidance for Face Coverings.

As a reminder, we have gone to cashless entry this season. Admission is free to all athletic events with a DHS Digital Sports pass and/or an ASB sticker. For those purchasing tickets, the cost is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Although there will be a QR code for fans to access at the entrance, fans are encouraged to buy their tickets online ahead of time to avoid delays at the door. Dublin High School GoFan page to purchase tickets for tonight as well as other events all season long can be found here.

One other scheduling note is that the Freshmen Boys game was canceled so it will just be a double header with JV tipping off at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00. These two JV teams squared off less than a week ago on Saturday, January 15th with the Gaels prevailing in overtime. Tonight’s Varsity game will be the first matchup between these two schools this season.

Dublin comes into tonight’s game with an overall record of 9-4 and an EBAL record of 2-1 following a 51-58 loss at De La Salle on Wednesday. The Gaels trailed by 23 points after the 3rd quarter before storming back in the fourth and cut the deficit to a two-score margin with the ball in the final minute before their comeback fell sort. Dublin defeated Amador Valley in their two meetings last season.

The Dons have compiled an overall record of 9-3 overall and 1-0 in league play, but they have not been in action for two weeks due to COVID. Amador Valley’s last contest was on January 7th when they defeated Livermore 69-45. Dublin was originally scheduled to open up league play at Amador Valley on January 5th, but that was one of several EBAL contests this season to have been either canceled or postponed.
