Dublin High School Athletics celebrated one of its most successful nights of the year on Tuesday, as the Varsity Boys Basketball team went on the road for a dramatic 74-72 overtime win at Dougherty Valley while both the Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer team posted shutouts wins in their quest for postseason bids.

The victory by the Varsity Boys Basketball team was particularly compelling considering that the Gaels trailed the Wildcats by 16 points entering the 4th quarter. Dublin stormed back behind a torrid offensive performance from Courtney Anderson Jr., as he scored 19 of his team-high 26 points in the second half and overtime to help lead the Gaels to the win. Jalen Stokes was Dublin’s other performer in double-figures with 12 points, including clutch shooting from the charity stripe as he knocked down 8-of-9 free throws to help seal the victory.

Dublin’s win had added significance in that it maintained the team’s 1-game lead in the East Bay Athletic League standings. The Gaels are now 7-1 in the EBAL (14-4 overall) while De La Salle is tied with San Ramon Valley with 2 league losses. Despite losing to the Spartans on January 19th, Dublin’s victory at Dougherty Valley on Tuesday gave the Gaels control of it’s own destiny for the #1 seed in next week’s EBAL Tournament if it can go on the road to defeat Monte Vista on Friday, February 4th. The Gaels can also back into the top spot if De La Salle loses to San Ramon Valley on Saturday since Dublin has the tie-breaker over the Wolves by virtue of their win against them last Thursday.

In addition to Boys Basketball, it was also a very successful night for Dublin High’s Soccer programs.

The Girls posted their 4th consecutive victory by defeating Granada 2-0 to improve to 12-4-2 overall and 5-3-1 in EBAL action. Dublin will play its 6th consecutive road match at San Ramon Valley on Thursday. a match which will go a long way towards determining its NCS seeding.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team also posted a major milestone in its program’s storied history by finishing the season undefeated in the EBAL Valley Division (6-0-2) after defeating Granada 1-0. This is believed to be the first time in the program’s history in the EBAL that it had no losses to its Tri-Valley rivals Foothill, Amador Valley, Granada, and Livermore. Dublin now moves into 3rd place in EBAL and remains in contention for a league title.
